Who We Serve
Shade for Houston Homes, Schools, and Businesses
Houston’s long, humid summers and frequent rain mean outdoor space only gets used when it has cover. Open pavement, playgrounds, and pool decks take the full load of that sun, so we build permanent shade for the people who manage those spaces.
Homeowners
Shade for the patio, the pool deck, or the backyard, so you can actually sit outside in August.
HOAs & Property Managers
Community pools, playgrounds, and amenity areas. The board gets free shop drawings to look over before we start.
Schools & Churches
Covered playgrounds, walkways, and pickup lines for campuses, daycares, and churches.
Businesses
Apartment amenity decks, dealership lots, car wash bays, and restaurant patios.
Municipalities
Parks, ball fields, and other public spaces for cities, counties, and parks departments.

What We Build
Shade Structures We Build in Houston
Every structure is custom engineered for its site. In Houston we most often see these five types of projects.
COMMERCIAL SHADE
Commercial Shade Structures
Shade over Houston restaurant patios, venues, offices, and storefronts, so guests can sit outside comfortably through the long, humid season.
RESIDENTIAL SHADE
Residential Shade Structures
Patios, backyards, and outdoor kitchens, from the Heights and Memorial out to Sugar Land and The Woodlands. We build them to the same commercial-grade standard as our big jobs.
COVERED PARKING
Vehicle and Parking Shade
Parking canopies for apartment communities, dealerships, car washes, and employee lots. Cars and people stay out of the sun and the rain.
PLAYGROUNDS AND SCHOOLS
Playground and School Shade
Shade for school and daycare playgrounds and neighborhood parks. Slides stay cooler to the touch, and kids get more time outside.
POOL SHADE
Pool Shade Structures
HOA pools, apartment amenity decks, and backyard pools. We cover the lounge and deck areas that get the worst afternoon sun. Pool season runs long on the Gulf Coast.
Not Sure Which Structure Fits?
Tell us what needs shade and how you use the space. We will recommend a size, style, and fabric for Houston conditions.
Structure Types
Which Shade Structure Fits Your Site?
What fits depends on how the space gets used. Most Houston requests start with a pool, a parking lot, or a playground.
By Use Case
- Residential: hip structures (attached or freestanding) and shade sails for patios, decks, and backyards.
- Commercial: big hip and pyramid structures over patios, entries, and walkways.
- Playground: 4-post and multi-post structures sized to fit over the equipment.
- Parking: cantilever and T-post canopies, so no posts end up in the drive lanes.
- Pool: cantilevers and sails that reach over the deck with no posts in the water.
- Sports: shade for bleachers, dugouts, and spectators at fields and complexes.
Structure Styles We Install
Every style is built in our own shop and can be sized and colored for your site.
- Hip and pyramid structures on 4 or more posts.
- Single and double post cantilevers.
- Cantilever umbrellas.
- Triangle and interlocking shade sails.
- Superstructures for large-span custom projects.
See every option on our types of shade structures page.
When To Call
When to Call for Shade in Houston
Shade is easiest to plan before the heat and the storm season arrive.
Good Times to Reach Out
- Winter and early spring, so your structure is up before Houston’s summer heat and hurricane season.
- During planning for a new build, renovation, or campus expansion.
- When an old canopy or faded fabric needs replacing.
- After a hurricane, storm, or hail has damaged an existing structure.
- When the playground, pool, or parking lot is too hot to use after lunch.
Timelines and Lead Times
A simple single-structure job usually runs a few weeks from design approval to done.
What can add time:
- Multiple structures on one site.
- Custom engineering for large spans or unusual footprints.
- City of Houston, county, or HOA permit and plan review.
- Peak season demand in spring and early summer.
Because Houston is a few hours west of our shop, we book site visits ahead and plan travel into your timeline.

What Our Clients Have to Say
Featured Reviews
★★★★★
“I highly recommend ShadePro for their quality shade products. I have purchased two shades over the years for my childcare facility and will likely purchase a third in the near future for my home. Not only are these shades very attractive and well made, but the customer service and installation process was exceptional as well. I look forward to a long partnership with ShadePro for my future shades for my business and home.”

“If you are looking for a company to install a shade structure on your property look no further. My wife and I hired ShadePro to install a cover for our pool deck. Their staff was extremely courteous, professional and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the shade we needed for our deck. The cover came early and they installed it in one day. The installation crew cleaned up after themselves and were very accommodating to any requests I may have had. All in all I give everyone invovled in this project a perfect 10.”

FAQ
Houston Shade Structure FAQs
Do you install shade structures in Houston and the surrounding suburbs?
Yes. We work all over Houston and Harris County, including Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pearland, and Pasadena. Our shop is in New Braunfels, a few hours away, so we book site visits in advance.
Do I need a permit for a shade structure in Houston?
It depends on size, location, and use, and the rules differ between the City of Houston, nearby cities, counties, and HOAs. Many commercial projects need one. At the estimate we’ll tell you if yours will probably need one, and we provide the engineered drawings to submit.
How long does a Houston shade project take?
A simple single-structure job usually runs a few weeks from design approval to done. More than one structure, custom engineering, or permit review will stretch that.
Will a shade structure hold up to Houston rain, wind, and heat?
We engineer every frame for the wind and other loads at your site, using factory-welded, powder-coated steel. Commercial95 fabric stops up to 95% of UV rays. It also breathes, so hot air escapes upward and doesn’t sit under the canopy.
What warranty comes with a ShadePro structure?
Steel frames have a 20-year warranty. The Commercial95 HDPE fabric has a 10-year warranty. We walk you through the documentation at the end of every install.
Do you work with Houston HOAs, schools, and churches?
Yes. We build shade for HOA pools and amenity areas, school and daycare playgrounds, church grounds, and parks, as well as for homes and businesses across the Houston area.
